Serve-a-Thon / Cesar Chavez Day of Service

Serve-a-Thon is an annual large-scale volunteer event in honor of Cesar Chavez Day. Cesar Chavez Day is a state holiday, however many Cal Poly Humboldt students, staff and faculty choose to support Y.E.S. and share their time to make a positive impact in the community! We are proud to partner with the Potawot Community Food Garden for this event.

In just one day, Cal Poly Humboldt students, staff, faculty, and community members collectively contribute about 200-300 hours to the Potwaot Community Food Garden. Potawot Community Food Garden is part of the United Indian Health Services (UIHS) and volunteers support garden projects that provide healthy food access to UIHS clients.

Purpose and History of Y.E.S. Serve-a-Thon

Serve-A-Thon is the Y.E.S. annual fundraiser that helps our program continue to operate and thrive. The volunteer marks the finale of our fundraising campaign.

Gifts to Y.E.S. (Youth Educational Services) touch many lives through our student-led volunteer programs offered in collaboration with local schools and community organizations. Y.E.S. programs are designed to meet local needs and provide our student volunteers with important teamwork and leadership experience.
